Ann Wilks CBE - Chair of Governors
Ann is currently Chair of the School Governing Body and a member of the NCYPE Board of Trustees.
Ann graduated from Oxford and worked for a short spell as a journalist at the Economist. Apart from a year or two at home after her daughters were born, she has spent her career in the Civil Service, mainly at the Department of Trade and Industry. Ann also chairs a charity which is working to regenerate the architecturally outstanding local town hall near her home for arts and community use.
James Falkner - Governor
James trained and worked as a Primary School Teacher prior to qualifying as an Educational Psychologist and then as a Clinical Psychologist. He worked for the Surrey Children’s Service for over thirty years as a member of the Educational Psychology Team.
He was Chairman of the former NCYPE School Governors for three years and now serves as the Vice Chairman of the reconstituted St. Piers School Governing Body.
June Davies - Governor
Following an early period in the Civil Service, June has enjoyed a long career in the field of education as an Ofsted and Adult Learning inspector, as a College Deputy Principal and as a practitioner. Since 2001, June has also been working as an educational consultant, specialising in the areas of management, quality assurance and curriculum for a wide range of educational providers and government-funded organisations and she's also an NCYPE trustee.
Michael Plant - Governor
Mike spent most of his career in the foreign exchange markets, both in New York and London. He left his last post in the City as Chief Executive of Spot Foreign Exchange for ICAP plc. He was also a member of the Bank of England Foreign Exchange Joint Standing Committee.
More recently, he set up Broadham Care Ltd to develop and operate Learning Disability homes in the South East, bringing new quality standards to the learning disability sector.
David McLachlan - Governor
Pastor of Dormansland Baptist Church and a governor of St. Piers School. David studied metallurgy at Oxford University, then spent 17 years in London with a large consultancy and accounting firm, mostly advising on company mergers and acquisitions.
A Christian since 1990, David recently felt God’s calling into full time Christian ministry and trained for this at Spurgeon’s College. David is married to Mary and they have four children.
Marion Unsworth - Governor
Marion is currently Head of a Surrey SLD School with one third students ASD. She taught at Lingfield Hospital School and also in Bromley. Qualifications, Cert Ed. Biological Studies and Education, BA Education, MA Education, Psychology and Management.
She has an advanced diploma in complex needs and has completed two years of a doctorate focusing on developing thinking skills in young people with SLD. She has lived in Lingfield for over 30 years, and is married with 2 children. She also has triplet grandchildren.
Tom Robinson - Care Staff Governor
Tom moved to Lingfield from County Durham in 1999. He began his working life at NCYPE on Ruston House and transferred to Jubilee Green in January 2003.
He was promoted to Unit Manager of Jubilee Green in February 2003.
Anna Barratt - School Staff Governor
Anna currently works in St Piers School as a Class Teacher. She has worked at the NCYPE since 2003 starting work as a Student Support Worker. After one year she took a learning support assistant position in school.
An opportunity arose to do Teacher Training within NCYPE. She completed this training, gaining QTS in 2007. She has a Degree in BA (HONS) Media and Information Studies.
Anna Walker CB, Chair of the NCYPE’s Board of Trustees
Anna is the Chair of the NCYPE’s Board of Trustees and ex officio a Governor of St Piers School and the NCYPE Further Education College. She is the former Chief Executive of health watchdog the Healthcare Commission (now part of the Care Quality Commission).
As well as her post at the Healthcare Commission, Anna has also undertaken various senior government roles including Deputy Director at the Office of Telecommunications (OFTEL) during the mid-1990s and Director General at the Department for Trade and Industry, responsible for the Government’s energy policy during the late 1990s. She has also had responsibility for land use and rural affairs at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and is currently the Chair of the Office of the Rail Regulator and a member of the board of Consumer Focus.
