The National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy warmly invites you to attend a study day to learn about epilepsy in children and young people
This day is aimed at healthcare professionals working with children and young people who want to learn more about epilepsy. It will be especially suitable for nurses working in schools, paediatrics, community and learning disability teams, practice nurses, health visitors, CAMHS practitioners and GPs.
It will also be of interest to carers and therapists who want to learn more about the medical aspects of epilepsy.
During the day the following topics will be delivered either as a talk or within a workshop.
- Epilepsy basics
- Seizure classification
- Status Epilepticus and emergency treatment protocols
- Misdiagnosis and Non Epileptic Attack Disorder (NEAD)
- Psychosocial impact of epilepsy and co-morbidities
- Devising personal emergency protocols
- Effect of epilepsy on cognition and behaviour
- Transition/moving on
- Case studies

All talks and workshops will be delivered by specialists working at the NCYPE
There will be a charge of £45 per person to include refreshments, lunch and a comprehensive delegate pack.
